Money Mondays: The Most Selfless Thing You Can Do
In 2019 I heard a millionaire say the most selfless thing you can do ... in that moment I thought he was going to say start a charity or find a cause that really aligns with how you want to see the world. But instead he said, is get your own financial house in order so you can get rich. This took me back and made me realize that I always associated being rich as bad. As selfish. As greedy.
When in actuality, if money was in the hands of more good people we could change the world. Even if it's only by changing our own life when you're rich you have the ability to give more. More money, more wisdom, more of your time. You are able to have more of an impact. And throught that impact, you're changing the world.
So why are we conditioned that wanting money or wanting more money, especially as women, is bad or is greedy?
If that's a narrative and story that you've digested, I invite you to re-write it today. Because it's not greedy. It's actually insanely selfless.
If I use myself as an example. By choosing to drive the older cars, live in the smaller houses, forgo the designer clothing, etc. I've been able to fully keep my kids at the centerfold of my life. I've been able to leave a job paying me $150,000 base salary, not including stock options and bonus's, so I can be a more present mom. Outside of my direct family it's also allowed me to start a company that empowers other women to buy back their life. To sit in the drivers seat of their financial life.
They spend 3 months with me and leave making $100k more a year, learning to invest and get better returns than their old Financial Advisor was giving them, and have a game plan to their own freedom.
All of these things have ripple effects into the world.
I felt compelled to write this today and say simply that if you've ever been on the fence of should I look into my finances and get things figured out, or can I ask for the raise when I'm already making more than anyone around me, or is it okay to want more?
The answer is it's your fucking birthright. Abundance is your baseline.
Let's get insanely rich and change the world.
